YouTube has updated its ad display system in response to advertiser demands. Now, certain videos may not show ads at all, even when accessed through VPN. This decision is tied to advertisers not wanting their ads shown in content where the audience doesn't match their target demographics.
Thanks to this update, algorithms have become better at recognizing audience segments that don't align with advertiser goals and excluding ad displays for those segments. For users, this means they may watch certain content ad-free, resembling the YouTube Premium experience but without needing a subscription.
