I recently discovered that an important banking app had disappeared from my iPhone. The app had been previously installed but was removed from the App Store. The culprit turned out to be the "Offload Unused Apps" feature, which automatically removes apps to free up storage while keeping their data.
The removal happens silently — the system doesn't notify you. To prevent this, go to Settings — Apps — App Store and turn off the "Offload Unused Apps" toggle.
While this setting is disabled by default, it's easy to accidentally enable. Check your device to make sure this option matches your preferences, so you don't lose important apps — especially those that may no longer be available on the App Store. It's better to remove unused apps manually.
Keep an eye on your settings and stay alert!
