The Elder Scrolls: Oblivion Remastered on Mac — Review

The Elder Scrolls: Oblivion Remastered comes to life thanks to Unreal Engine 5. The graphics are impressive, but performance leaves much to be desired. Lag issues have been noted on PC and consoles, including the PS5 Pro.

On Mac, the game runs through CrossOver. Unfortunately, expectations were too high. On ARM-based devices, the game stutters and shows serious performance issues. Indoors, the game runs smoothly (45-60 FPS), but outdoors, FPS drops to 30. The main problem is incorrect texture rendering, which can tank FPS to a critical 3-10.

The current version of CrossOver needs further development to properly support this game. Significant optimizations are required and may only arrive with the next software release in 2026. For a comfortable Oblivion Remastered experience, PC or console is the better choice over Mac.
