Apple's VP of Finance, Alex Roman, is under investigation following allegations from Epic Games. Judge Yvonne Gonzalez Rogers brought charges of giving false testimony regarding the 27% commission on transactions outside the App Store. According to the court, Apple was aware of this claim but took no action to correct it.
In 2020, Epic Games accused Apple of monopolizing purchases on iOS. In 2021, the court ruled that Apple must allow developers to use alternative payment methods. Apple responded by introducing a new commission, which contradicted the court's decision.
The judge referred the case to the US Attorney's Office. Apple, disagreeing with the verdict, plans to appeal the decision while remaining under close scrutiny from regulators.
