Apple has announced a battery case for the new iPhone 17 Air, prompted by reduced battery life. The ultra-thin design — just 5.5 mm — limits the battery capacity, which affects the device's runtime.
According to tests, only 60-70% of iPhone 17 Air users will get a full day of use without recharging, compared to 80-90% for previous models. To compensate, Apple will offer the battery case as an optional accessory, continuing the accessory line started with the iPhone 11 and MagSafe Battery Pack.
Apple's manufacturing partners have expressed concern about demand for the iPhone 17 Air due to its new design. As a result, only 10% of production capacity will initially be allocated to this model within the iPhone 17 series.
