A court has overturned the dismissal of an employee who was replaced by artificial intelligence. The young woman, who started as a purchasing manager in 2023 at a clothing company, was forced to leave her position after some of her duties were transferred to AI. She was offered a reduced work schedule with corresponding pay, which led her to file a lawsuit.
The court ruled the dismissal unlawful and ordered the company to reinstate her, pay her salary for the entire period of absence, compensate for moral damages, and cover legal costs. The total compensation was significant.
Despite the court's decision, the employee refused to return to her former position. The company, in turn, considers her incompetent and accused her of fraud, leaving the conflict unresolved and open to further proceedings.
